Daniel Redford was born in London England before the Combine occupation. He was born into a high-class family, raised by his mother, Evelyn and his father Jason. The two got along well with Daniel in his toddler years, teaching him how to walk and talk. They gave him all the affection any young child could ever ask for, things were well. He started primary school at the age of five, he wasn’t the kind of child his parents had hoped for though, he was very rowdy, messy and loved to get his hands dirty. He was always making noise, or fiddling with things, but who doesn’t expect that from a toddler of that age? Everyone knew that eventually Daniel would grow up to amount to something, everyone has to, right?
In his later childhood years around the age of eight, Daniel began to take up reading. It was somewhat peculiar for his young age, but nevertheless books interested him. He started to become less rowdy, but the lack of maturity was still evidently there. His parents taught him manners since he was just a tot, and they began to kick in around the age of nine. As his mind began to properly form, he realized that he needed to begin to act like everyone else, he started to become a ‘normal’ human being. Daniel was still social with the friends he had, but not nearly as social as he could be. Progressing into his pre-teen years, he kept a lot more to himself than when he was younger, passing up most opportunities to go outside, instead staying inside to learn from books and other sources of knowledge provided to him in his wealthy childhood environment. His mother was a lawyer down at a larger firm downtown, and his father was a construction worker working for the city. Both had a fat paycheck and somewhat spoiled Daniel, though he didn’t ask for a whole lot. He was somewhat humble, but still had some of that childhood left in him. His school teachers noticed that he’d come a long way since he was littler, but would that be enough to get him through the years to come?
Moving on to Daniel’s teenage years... around the age of fifteen Daniel began to become less and less sociable with others, though he began to develop an appreciation for expressive street art. He practiced some himself in his spare time, mostly applying his ideals to the walls of several street corners and alleyways at night. He took a lot more to reading, schooling and studying, becoming more of the ‘well-mannered gentleman’ he was expected to grow into. He passed high-school with flying colours, given the excess amounts of time he put into things he did.
As a young adult, Daniel had moved into the University in the downtown London metropolis area. He was majoring in triage and minoring in psychology. It took him quite a few years to finish his schooling, but eventually made it through. He was ready to become a doctor. After receiving his diploma, he took a few years off before deciding to take his path further forward to the field, though he was ready to become a doctor. During his few years off of his career path, Daniel had a major setback in his life when the Combine came and began their occupation of Earth. He fled underground with others into the subway system to wait out the war to eventually be round up by the Combine.
The first few months of the occupation were difficult, he disliked the combine occupancy just as much as the next guy, they destroyed his city, killed most of his friends, completely tousled his life just as he was about to be a made man till the end of days. Daniel began to grow tired of the consistent dictatorship, and decided to take up street art to voice his opinion on it instead of being shot for speaking it. “Their downfall is your freedom.” “Drive your sword into oppression!” these are topics he would spray on the walls of alleys and buildings, voicing his opinion against oppression, hoping to make a difference. After a few long months, the Combine had eventually turned him out of his home, down to a small city outside of city eighteen.
Once he was into the city, he’d literally said “To hell with this.” when he found out he was to live in the occupied sector of the city. He quickly found his way to the canals system, where he met up with an African refugee by the name of ‘Darnell ‘Pipes’ Jackson’. Pipes was a quiet man at first, but began to tone up as he became friends with Daniel, the two shared their opinion about the Combine, and agreed to help each other out. Daniel was assisting with medical treatments with the refugees in what little he could, given the lack of supplies, and in return Pipes would show Daniel the ropes of the canals, teaching him what was where, and how to get there... Eventually a few months passed and Daniel knew the canals like the back of his hand, him and Pipes would move about as they pleased during the night time, sleeping in a small maintenance room during the day. Though eventually they came to the realization that if they were going to get anywhere, they were going to need help. So they sought out to find people who could begin to help them with propaganda, their idea was to get others to rebel, instead of getting themselves killed. They eventually went down to a Combine printing organization where they sought out a man Pipes new inside who could help them, his name was Zack. Zack was a peculiar and nervous jittery-like man, but he could get them what they needed, which was essentially blank paper they could write or draw on to spread the word about revolution. They got their paper fairly cheap from him as he supported their ideals and wanted to help in any way possible, though made them pay minimum price so that it wouldn’t be suspicious. They began to write messages on the paper encouraging revolution and rioting in the city. Soon small revolutionary groups began to break out within the first few weeks, riots within the month, their plan was starting to kick into action, all Pipes and Daniel had to do was sit back and enjoy the ride...
A few days later, Daniel and Pipes had decided that they needed to start acquiring food to feed themselves and the few refugees who stayed with them. Not just any food.. the good stuff, the stuff smuggled in from the outlands. Pipes knew just the guy, his name was Lazarus Icongoa. He worked with a smuggling ring in the downtown canals sector, he helped smuggle food into the canals and have it shovelled out for a good price. Daniel had come to become good friends with him, after helping him start up a fight club. All the earnings would go to Lazarus in exchange for food. Daniel had agreed and they got the fight club set up in an old abandoned factory cellar. Lazarus was an attempted-to-be ‘suave motherfucker’, but wasn’t quite there yet. He wore a white felt fedora with black brim, a leather jacket and the regular citizen jeans. Him and Daniel worked the fight club for several weeks, becoming very platonically close. Lazarus eventually helped Daniel and Pipes out free of charge, given how well the fight club was doing. Daniel decided to stay and help run it for the fun of it anyways, he enjoyed both watching, and partaking in the fights every other day known as ‘Fight Night’. Lazarus had stayed with Daniel and his small group ever since, assisting in whatever way he could, most of it being keeping the fight club up and running as a source of entertainment and income.
A few weeks after meeting Lazarus, Pipes had suggested to Daniel that he try to find a way to acquire medical goods for their group. He agreed, telling him about his background with medical understanding, and could put the goods to better use than the average refugee probably could. Lazarus knew a guy, his name was Erik Fisher. Fisher was a crafty witty gentleman who worked in the CWU laboratories, though secretly supported Lazarus with the paperwork he needed when he smuggled ‘CWU labelled goods’ into the city without inspection. They took a trip down to see him in the offices, and worked out a deal. Fisher declined their original idea and suggested he simply give them the produce for very little price. He was known to be an embezzler in the CWU but it could never be proved, it took a while for them to figure it out before expelling him from active duty. He moved to the slums with a large shipment of meds and stuff with him. He also decided to be crafty, and got Daniel to spray-paint a middle finger on the wall of the inner office, though it was never pinned on either of them as Fisher resigned earlier that day, and Daniel never even worked there.
Now that the group had been entirely stockpiled, they decided it was time to expand their business. A small group decided to move from city eighteen to city eight to start anew. The small group consisted of Lazarus, Erik, Daniel and a few refugees known as Thomas Adahn who was a senior member of the fight club, and Michael Collins. They made their way there to both expand their little corner of the rebellion as well as expand the fight club, maybe make a few new and powerful friends... only time will tell what happens..
Misc section.
Daniel's overall physique: Somewhat Healthy, slightly above average physique, from the fight club, but not exactly great.
Daniel's knowledge of medicine: Pretty good, given his many years of education specifically in the medical field.
Daniel's overall knowledge of hand-to-hand combat: A little above average, as he does occasional fighting in the fight club, but not much experience in a life-or-death situation.
Daniel's knowledge with computers: Bullshit, he doesn't know shit-all about computers really.
Daniel's mercantilism is decent, considering he's bullshat his way through more than one simple scenario (Most of the bullshitting was IC on Revotech, convinced the MPF I ran a legitimate shop, etc.)
